YELLOW BELLIED SLIDERS (TRACHEMYS SCRIPTA SCRIPTA )
The Yellow Bellied Slider is a hardy and easy to keep turtle, similar to the red eared turtle
They have yellow/white stripe markings on both sides of the head
Males tend to grow to around 5"-8" long, females to around 8"-13" long
Like red eared turtles they like to bask so a basking area is essential
ENCLOSURE
Must include an internal/external filter pump
A submersible heater with a heater guard
UV-B lighting (repti-sun 5.0 or 10.0 flourescent)
A basking area/platform with floodlight
Temperatures
Water Temperature...........around 75 degrees
Basking Temperature.........around 85-90 degrees
Air Temperature...............around 74-84 degrees
Feeding
Juveniles.....Bloodworms
Adults.........Prawn, shrimp, krill, earthworms, endive/romaine lettuce, reptomin sticks.
I use King British Turtle and Terrapin food which contains all neccesary dietary ingredients for adults.
A varied diet is reccomended
Once daily for juveniles (do not over feed) and 2-3 times weekly for adults
